When the soil is dry it absorbs any kind of liquid poured into it not knowing that it might end up killing the flowers, seeds, and plants it is nourishing in its attempt to quench the thirst.
In matters of love, the situation is no different.
The soul can be so hungry for emotions that it no longer differentiates between love and lust.
Although love cannot be defined, we can all agree that it is related to the emotional part in us; affection, care etc…
It is the giving fully without any expectation.
What we have come to call unconditional.
As for lust, it is merely the physical desire which in most cases fades away very quickly.
In between the two we have the like, and for me, the best way to describe it is to reuse these wise words: “when you like a flower, you pluck it. But when you love a flower, you water it daily…”
Between these three Ls, love, lust, and the like, lies a vast universe of mixed feelings.
Lust and like do sometimes turn into love, and that is the ultimate state for any human being.
But how about when lust is just that, and you’re kind of happy with it because at this specific point in time it’s all you’re looking for and do not care whether it vanishes or turns into a love story or somehow hurts you in one way or another?
One of my favorite songs contains this part:
”
أحبيني لأسبوع لأيام لساعات فلست أنا الذي يهتم بالأبد أحبيني”
“Love me for a week, for days, or just some hours, for its not me who cares about eternity, just love me.” – Nizar Kabbani
Love and lust are best when interchangeable so I wish you both…
